Hugo Ball: Intermezzo

Intermezzo

In jeder Gestalt ihrer Ausschweifungen.
Ein Spötter, ein Dichter, ein Literat -
Streu ich der Worte verfängliche Saat.

– Hugo Ball (1886-1927)

Updatitis

Definition:
A recent, virulent, rapidly spreading disease.
Symptoms:
You're happily working along on your computer when suddenly a window pops up informing you that update xxx needs to be installed. In some instances, the window can neither be nixed nor moved, covering up what you are working on. Moreover, it may display a message to the extent that another security leak at port xxx has been discovered, leaving you wide, wide open to potential hacker attacks.
Effects and side effects:
Loss of space on your hard disk, loss of time, e.g. due to having to reboot your computer, stress, anger, anxiety, uncertainty as to what is happening to your computer and who really owns it.
Remedy:
None.
Most common strains:
Microsoft, Adobe, Apple, Real, WinAmp and many, many more.
Suspected cause:
Massive failures to get it right the first time around.
Final word of advice:
Do not believe for a minute that you are able to keep on doing whatever you were doing while update xxx is installing itself. Some people have lost their hard disks that way.

Maria Luise Weissmann: Karneval des Unbeschwingten

Karneval des Unbeschwingten

Ach, ich war mir ganz entlaufen,
Tanzte fremd im fremden Land
Und sie wollten mich schon taufen:
Einer doch den Namen fand,

Der mich rief, wie sie mich nannten
Damals, einst, vor langer Zeit...
Und ich wußte: sie erkannten
Unter dem gemalten Kleid

Doch den Fremdling, der verblieben,
Nun sich selber unbekannt.
Sein verstoßnes Herz zu lieben
Stand er rot an einer Wand.

End Game

This ultrashort play by James Steerforth makes use of certain themes in Samuel Beckett’s well-known play ‘Fin de partie’ (1956), the English title of which is Endgame, for its own, hopefully somewhat amusing purposes.

Spamutations

In my effort to trace the latest trends and fashions in spam, I've collected a few of the messages that have come in during the last month or so.

Many of them do not seem to have any purpose at all (except to possibly annoy) because they neither advertise a product nor contain any clickable links.

Here are some shining examples:

Nice collections of names, I must admit. Perhaps I should continue collecting these spams and some day put together a book of first name suggestions for parents to be.

Here's what arrived today, with the subject "Dont be left behind because of bad health":

Urgent question of the night.

Rainer Maria Rilke: Archaic Torso of Apollo

Archaic Torso of Apollo

We did not know his head of such unheard-of fame
wherein the orbéd eyes matured. Even so,
his torso, candelabrum-like, still is aglow,
and there his gazing, merely set low-flame,

persists and glitters. For otherwise the incurvation
of the chest could never so bedazzle you, nor indeed,
could from the loins’ soft turning a smile proceed
to that midpoint which once bore procreation.

Otherwise this stone tortured and squat would stand
beneath the shoulders’ lucent sweep, and
would not shimmer like a coat of sable;

nor would it burst forth from all its margins, rife
with the light of stars: for there is not one site unable
to perceive you. You have to change your life.

Richard Dehmel: Die Schaukel

Die Schaukel

Auf meiner Schaukel in die Höh,
was kann es Schöneres geben!
So hoch, so weit! Die ganze Chaussee
und alle Häuser schweben.

Weit über die Gärten hoch, juchhee,
ich lasse mich fliegen, fliegen;
und alles sieht man, Wald und See,
ganz anders stehn und liegen.

Hoch in die Höh! Wo ist mein Zeh?
Im Himmel! ich glaube, ich falle!
Das tut so tief, so süß dann weh,
und die Bäume verbeugen sich alle.

Und immer wieder in die Höh,
und der Himmel kommt immer näher;
und immer süßer tut es weh -
der Himmel wird immer höher.

– Richard Dehmel (1863-1920)

Rainer Maria Rilke: Spanish Dancer

Spanish Dancer

As a struck match, before becoming flame, white
flickering tongues in all directions sends,
so, bystanders looking on, unfolds her dance: bright,
hot and hurried, a circular rite,
pulsating with passion, and intense.

And suddenly it is fully aflare.

With just a glance she lights her hair,
and then, with daring art, turns her entire
dress into this flaming ball of fire,
from which, each like a startled snake,
her naked arms dart, rattling and awake.

Then, deeming too close the lambent heat,
she gathers all of if it together and flings it to her feet
with an imperious gesture, haughtily gazing.
There it lies on the floor, enraged and blazing,
and burning still, refusing to retire.
But, confident of victory, her smile assured and sweet,
she lifts her face as if in greeting to the fire,
and stamps it out with solid little feet.

In dunkler Stunde,
Im Flüstern halber Worte:
Die Erde rührt sich in ihrem Winterschlaf,
Lässt Gras und Blumen sprießen
Unter Schnee,
Unter fallendem Schnee.

Robert Graves (1895-1985)

She Tells Her Love

She tells her love while half asleep,
In the dark hours,
With half-words whispered low:
As Earth stirs in her winter sleep
And puts out grass and flowers
Despite the snow,
Despite the falling snow.

Robert Graves (1895-1985)

A poem by one of the grand old men of British 20th century poetry, perhaps now remembered not so much for his poetry but his historical novel I, Claudius about the Roman emperor.

Deiner Liebe Purpur

2.

Tag meines Lebens!
die Sonne sinkt.
Schon steht die glatte
Flut vergüldet.
Warm atmet der Fels:
schlief wohl zu Mittag
das Glück auf ihm seinen Mittagsschlaf?
In grünen Lichtern
spielt Glück noch der braune Abgrund herauf.

Tag meines Lebens!
gen Abend gehts!
Schon glüht dein Auge
halbgebrochen,
schon quillt deines Taus
Tränengeträufel,
schon läuft still über weiße Meere
deiner Liebe Purpur,

Man hört Gesang. Die jungen Priester kommen.
Barhäuptig gehen sie vor den Prälaten.
Zu Flöten schallt der Meßgesang. Die frommen
Und alten Lieder wandern durch die Saaten.

In weißen Kleidchen kommen Kinder singend.

What a collection of angels! They all seem to have one thing in common – they refer to pages hosted by www.freewebs.com that advertise the usual spammer crap or offer downloads that will most likely do wonderful things to people's PCs.

The proper designation for the mastermind behind this kind of attack refers to a specific opening in a lower body part.

An deinem Auge bliebe, mich verstricken!

Ode to one who loves her sleep

Do not tamper with my temper,
she said,
never wake me up
when I’m asleep in bed.

Men a lot braver than you
have tried,
with the result
that I had their hide.

My temper when wakened is like
the wrath of a god,
it scathes, it burns,
it kills at a wink and a nod.

The wounds I inflict
with my nails run deep.
Therefore do not, I repeat,
wake me up when I sleep.

Field theory, breathing and projectile verse

The other day, while dusting my shelf, I came across Charles Olson’s Selected Writings and started rereading his essay (if it can be called that) on what he thought poetry should be like.

I’m not very good at remembering abstract details, but I recall a few of his keywords, such as field, breath and projective.

Once again I feel compelled to illustrate theory to myself by practice, i.e. by living it.

The following poem practices everything Olson mentions.

Three Breathy Fields

FIELD 1

It is an open field, unhindered by obstacles.

Not even a cow projects from it.

(Actually, I should remove the periods at the ends of the lines to achieve openness, and it surely won't hurt to move the subfields or breath units about a bit)

It is an open field, unhindered by obstacles

Not even a cow projects from it

FIELD 2

Here I practice breathing. Everything I write should be spoken in one breath. It should be spoken without breathlessness, however. Since that’s a double negative, I’ll put it positively: It should be spoken with breathness. Still with me in the same breath?

FIELD 3

Is like Neil Young’s field of opportunity, where "it’s ploughing time again"

.
.
.

This field is left open for your convenience, to plough things in, under or over. Fill it with breath, openness, projectiles, whatever. But remember not to damage the screen in front of you.

This ends today’s occupation with Charles Olson’s projective field and breath theory. Perhaps I shall return for another lesson soon. Await it with baited breath.

About my favorite color

My favorite color is red;
on chilly nights I wear
red socks in bed.

When it gets warm outside,
I take my bike out
for a ride.

Its color, as you might have
guessed, is red
cause that’s the best.

Red also rhymes
with daily bread;
it’s what we pray for
and what keeps us fed.

My grandpa’s car is red,
and what a life that man
has led!

In winter red is very good
because it is on
Santa’s hood.

Some roses are red,
and those are said
to best impart
the love in one’s heart.

To make my color poem full:
please do not wave
red at a bull.

Regen

Der Regen rinnt schon tausend Jahr,
Die Häuser sind voll Wasserspinnen,
Seekrebse nisten mir im Haar
Und Austern auf des Domes Zinnen.

Der Pfaff hier wurde eine Qualle,
Seepferdchen meine Nachbarin.
Der blonde Seestern streckt mir alle
Fünfhundert Fühler zärtlich hin.

Es ist so dunkel, kalt und feucht.

Heinrich von Morungen (um 1200)

Vielsüße sanfte Töterin,
warum wollt Ihr töten mir den Leib,
wo ich Euch doch so herzlich liebe,
fürwahr, Herrin, über alle anderen Frauen?
Wähnet Ihr ..., wenn Ihr mich tötet,
dass ich Euch dann nimmer mehr anschaue?
Nein, Eure Liebe hat mich dazu genötigt,
dass Eure Seele meiner Seele Herrin ist.
Soll mir hier nichts Gutes geschehen
von Eurem werten Leibe,
so muss Euch meine Seele eingestehen,

Youth suspected in banana store hold-up beaten by police officer

Lieutenant Shylock Enrique García of the Fuentecarral Police Force was no myrmidon by any means – just a little incapacitated in the conscience department and somewhat frozen in earlier history when the softening-up of suspects was routine preparation to elicit some useful answers.

Written upon inspiration by Raven’s Week 7 Mini Challenge. The words frozen, history, myrmidon, Shylock and incapacitated were to be used.

Thank you, Raven, for getting me acquainted with the word myrmidon.

A near-miss haiku

So I was on my way to the store close-by,
only to find out, once I got there, that it was closed.
Well hell, I thought, that saved me some money coz I’s about to buy me some clothes.
That’s what I call a close call
and less wear on the clothesline.

Written upon instigation by BlogFriday – seeking submissions for the word ‘closed.’ This haiku with its syllabic structure of 11 / 13 / 19 / 7 / 7 is not the only thing that’s a amiss here. Or a close call.

Die Ballade vom Fliegenpilz

Ein Fliegenpilz
gedankenversunken im Walde stand.
“Ich will’s”,
dacht’ er für sich im Sand,

und meinte damit
auf Flügeln das Fliegen.
Ein dienstbarer Geist der hörte mit
und wollte ihm obliegen.

Von Tälern und Hügeln
kamen sie ihm zugeflogen
zuhauf auf ihren Flügeln.
Ganz ungelogen:

Schon mancher, dem das Glück gelacht,
wurde anders beschenkt als er gedacht.

Microsoft Lottery (?)

We all know that Bill Gates is one of the shrewdest people on earth when it comes to sniffing a buck against the wind. It is also known that he's a great philantropist, redistributing oodles of his software user-earned $$$ to cancer research, etc.

What's little known is that he's gone senile and started the Microsoft E-Games Promotion Award, of which I am a lucky consolation prize winner, as I've been informed by e-mail this very morning. Yahoo! I've been approved to win an incredible 500,000 £.

My soul mate’s soul is like delicate silver,
Two lissome white seagull wings
Her feet,
And in her dear blood
Rises a blue intimation
Of things
All miraculous

– Peter Hille

English version by Johannes Beilharz, who writes:
In this translation I deviated quite noticeably from the German original, e.g. by avoiding the second person address and using third person instead ("her"), with the intention of rendering more the feeling of Peter Hille's poem or its inner intention, as I experienced it, than the actual words.
Peter Hille (1854-1904) traveled widely in England, Holland and Italy before settling in Berlin, where he became friends with Detlev von Liliencron (Germany's leading impressionist poet), Richard Dehmel, Rainer Maria Rilke, Otto Julius Bierbaum and Else Lasker-Schüler (who mystified him in her Peter Hille book of 1907). Lived most of his life in poverty, helped by friends. The Rowohlt Literaturlexikon 20. Jahrhundert (1971) calls him "the fragmentist of impressionism, who succeeded in recording momentary sensual and psychic impressions in an idiosyncratic manner." Along with Lasker-Schüler, he is also considered a precursor of German expressionism.

Deine beiden Füße,
Und dir im lieben Blut auf
Steigt ein blauer Hauch,
Und sind die Dinge darin
Alle ein Wunder.

Distant greeting by telephone

I call you on the telephone:
Good morning! – How are you, my dear?
I’m listening to your voice’s tone.
It’s lovely, soothing and so very clear.

Through wire I kiss you on your distant ear,
You’re mine – aren’t you, my sweet?
How ever I hurt you when I was near:
Please do forgive me – I entreat!

You’re fine? – Great! – Worried about money?
Never you mind, the cost is not that much.
I have to go now and hang up, my honey.
Next time I’ll write to get in touch.

Joachim Ringelnatz (1883-1934)

Translated from the German (which can be found here) by Johannes Beilharz.

Note
This poem was written in the days when not everybody had a telephone and definitely before the advent of free local calls or flat rates. If Ringelnatz were alive today, he'd have to rethink and write about wireless communication and e-mail. No doubt he would.

Ringelnatz telefoniert

Telefonischer Ferngruß

Ich grüße dich durchs Telefon,
Guten Morgen, du Gutes!
Ich sauge deiner Stimme Ton
In die Wurzeln meines Mutes.

Ich küsse dich durch den langen Draht.
Du Meinziges, du Liebes!
Was ich dir - nahe - je Böses tat,
Aus der Ferne bitt ich: Vergib es!

Bist du gesund? - Gut? - Was? - Wieviel? -
Nimm's leicht! - Vertraue! - Und bleibe
Mir mein. - - Wir müssen dies Wellenspiel
Abbrechen - - Nein "dir" Dank! - - Ich schreibe!

Jimmy Cain: Sliver

Me and my dawg Sliver

So I says to my dawg Sliver,
Sliver you know one thang

And Sliver yawns right
in my face and I
don’t like her breath much

But still I tickle her belly,
and Sliver she don’t
say much, just gives me a
quick lick and a blink

That one thang I’m talking about,
I says, is that life’s a bowl
of dog food – it sure stinks,
but I’ll have it in a pinch

Some kind of passion

Passion to last from here to eternity

Momentarily lacking the necessary inspiration to write something myself for Sunday Scribblings' PASSION prompt # 99, I decided to resort to the services of the Love Poetry Generator as my best shot at a poem full of singeing torridity. What you do is enter a number of words in boxes. Here is the result:

M y L o v e

Your skin glows like the orange, blossoms grave as the rose in the purest hope of spring.
My heart follows your oud voice and leaps like a lizard at the whisper of your name.
The evening floats in on a great titmouse wing.
I am comforted by your slip that I carry into the twilight of zipperbeams and hold next to my lips.
I am filled with hope that I may dry your tears of dew.
In the quiet, I listen for the last thud of the day.
My heated mouth leaps to your bosom.
I wait in the moonlight for your secret strap so that we may undress as one, mouth to mouth, in search of the magnificient black and mystical delight of love.

American Life In Poetry

For more than a year now I've been receiving ex-US poet laureate Ted Kooser's weekly poetry columns called American Life in Poetry* by e-mail and have never before been so consistently diametrically opposed to a poetry selection. I've even come up with a generic term for the kind of stuff Kooser tends to choose: clod-stuck poetry. (Also see my earlier post Poetry and Abstraction.)

This poetry is all wheelbarrow. It mostly looks like it's coming from the William Carlos Williams corner of the American poetic tradition, but when Williams said "No ideas but in things," he meant that things needed to be transcended. And this is not happening in much of the work Kooser picks – things remain at the thing level.

*All the poems can be seen here.

A historical perspective

These are a few things that happened on February 23s a while ago (courtesy msn encarta):

1847: About 5,000 American troops commanded by General Zachary Taylor defeat some 15,000 Mexicans under General Antonio López de Santa Anna near Buena Vista, Mexico.

Way to go, Santa Anna:

Heave her up, and away we'll go
Heave away, Santianna!
Heave her up, and away we'll go
All on the plains of Mexico

~~~~~~~~~~
1870: Mississippi is formally readmitted to the Union.
~~~~~~~~~~

1934: Casey Stengel, who had previously been the team's coach, becomes the manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Hhmm ... don't see the historical significance of that, but then I've never been that interested in the Brooklyn Dodgers ... or any baseball team for that matter.

~~~~~~~~~~
1940: The Walt Disney animated motion picture Pinocchio, about a wooden puppet who longs to become human, is released.
Pinocchio, as I noticed last night, also puts in guest appearances in Shrek (2001).
~~~~~~~~~~

1945: U.S. Marines capture the highest point on the island of Iwo Jima and raise the American flag for the second time that day.

Clint Eastwood's Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) tells the story of the battle from the perspective of Japanese soldiers who fought in it.

~~~~~~~~~~
1997: Scottish scientists announce what they have kept secret for seven months: that they have cloned adult sheep DNA and produced a healthy sheep who they have named Dolly.
Dolly, who was apparently named after Dolly Parton, lived from 1996 to 2003.
Free from compositional rhetoric
Triadic Memories by Morton Feldman, played by Roger Woodward to abstract expressionist art and French and English spoken gibberish.
Ouw-oo!
"Let me down, let me down!"
"Yahoo! Dumped you in the croop you dirty breek!"
– Iself
Note
Reading about the composer Morton Feldman that he "began graphic works, with open pitch and rhythm, and music 'free from a compositional rhetoric' in early '50s," I decided to write poetry following the same principles. This is the first example of a poem that is free from compositional rhetoric. It is also quite obvious that its pitch and rhythm are open.
Retroactively attributed to Sunday Scribblings #107 – Compose.
Kristina schätzt die Seele des Mannes
Zuvor war es Maria, nun ist es Kristina, die unter Millionen von unangefordert angeschriebenen Männern, mit denen sie viele gemeinsame Interessen und Hobbys hat, den ihres Lebens (?) zu finden hofft. Ein Bildchen ist auch gleich dabei (siehe unten). Hier nun ihre Worte, die dem sterilen Deutschen neues Leben bezüglich Grammatik, Rechtschreibung und Formulierung einhauchen:
Hallo!
Mein Name ist Kristina Ich hab' mich vor kurzem in diesem Website regestriert, um einen Mann fuer gute Beziehungen kennenzulehrnen.
Ich hab' ihres Info-Profil aufmerksam gelesen, und meine, dass Sie sehr interessanter Mann sind.
Ich hab' gewagt Ihnen zu schreiben, um Ihnen kennenzulehrnen. Ich hoffe, dass Sie mir antworten?))
Ich finde, dass wir viele gemeinsame Interessen und Hobbys haben. Die Schoenheit des Mannes ist fuer mich nichtwichtig.
Ich schaetze die Seele des Mannes, seine Meinung auf Leben, Lebensprioritaeten.
Ich hab zu viel im Leben gesehen und kann meinen Mann gluecklich machen. Ich weiss nicht, ob Sie mir antworten oder nicht! Warum wuerden wir nicht reskieren? Nicht wahr? Ich denke, dass wir alle Chance benutzen muessen, um unseres Glueck zu finden. Das Leben ist zu kurz, um nur dafuer zu leben, dass nachzudenken und zu traemen.
Ich will nicht zu vielueber mich jetzt schreiben. Ich erzaehle kurz, wer ich bin. Ich arbeite, um bequem zu leben. Ich hab' eine akademische Bildung, und ich bin ziemlich intelegent. Es fehlt mir nur an einen Lieblingsmann.
Ich hab' viele Interessen - Musik, Lesen, Buecher, Computer, Filmkunst, Unterhaltung, Sport und viele anderen Sachen, die meines Leben wunderbar machen. Ich mag attraktive Kleidung und Sachen.
Ich kann nicht sagen, dass ich viele Freunden und Freundinnen von mir habe. Ich kenne viele Leute und ich bin sehr kritisch fuer Kommilitonnen.
Freund von mir ist ein Mensch, der alle Schwirigkeiten mit mir ueberlebt. Ich bin gluecklich, dass ich solche guten Kommilitonnen hab'. Ich bin sehr kontaktfreudig, deswegen hab' ich viele Bekannten, mit dennen ich gute Beziehungen hab'. Meine Freunden sagen, dass ich ein huebsches, gutes, charmantes und geselliges Maedchen bin. Es waere alles) Jetzt entscheiden Sie, ob Sie mir schreiben oder nicht) Aber: Schreiben Sie mir bitte meine e-mail: angkristideu@gmail.com
Folgendes wäre noch anzufügen: Kristinas E-Mail kam gar nicht von ihr, sondern von einer Rena Huyhn mit der Adresse tvtdhqi@bmasf.com, und war auch gar nicht an mich adressiert. Da kommt doch auf Anhieb eine Menge Vertrauen zur potenziellen zukünftigen Lebenspartnerin auf!
Der Ton des Tages
Langsame stunden überm fluss
Langsame stunden überm fluss -
Die welle zischt wie im verdruss
Da von dem feuchten wind gefrischt
Ein schein bald blendet bald verwischt.
Wir standen hand in hand am strand
Da sah sie ähren in dem sand -
Sie trat hinzu und brach davon
Und fand auf diesen tag den ton:
Beginnend klang er hell und leicht
Wie von dem ziel das wir erreicht -
Dann ward er dumpfer als sie sang
Vom fernen glück - wie bang! wie lang!
Unvergängliches von Otto Julius Bierbaum
Ich ... war ... einmal
Oft weiß ich ganz genau: Ich ... war ... einmal;
Ich habe schon einmal all dies gesehn;
Der Baum vor meinem Fenster rauschte mir
Ganz so wie jetzt vor tausend Jahren schon;
All dieser Schmerz, all diese Lust ist nur
Ein Nochmals, Immerwieder, Spiegelung
Durch Raum und Zeit. - Wie sonderbar das ist:
Ein Fließen, Sinken, Untertauchen und
Ein neu Empor im gleichen Strome: Ich
Und immer wieder ich: Ich ... war ... einmal.
Das Perlhuhn
Das Perlhuhn
Das Perlhuhn zählt: eins, zwei, drei, vier ...
Was zählt es wohl, das gute Tier,
dort unter den dunklen Erlen?
Es zählt, von Wissensdrang gejückt,
(die es sowohl wie uns entzückt):
die Anzahl seiner Perlen.
– Christian Morgenstern (1871-1914)
Bedauernde Schlussbemerkung
Leider habe ich für dieses Gedicht kein Foto mit dunklen Erlen im Hintegrund finden können. Das wird mich wohl eine Weile jücken.
Ach, ich fühl' es! Keine Tugend
Ist so recht nach meinem Sinn;
Stets befind' ich mich am wohlsten,
Ja, das macht mir viel Pläsier;
Lieber vor als hinter mir.
The state of the art in automatic translation
Wenn die Minni
im Bikini
in der Sonne sitzt
und der azurblaue Himmel niederblitzt,
dann stehn die Nachbarjungs am Zaun
und sehn: die Minni wird ganz braun
– Felix Morgenstern
Google's automatic translation of this ditty:
If the minni
in bikini
sitting in the sun
and the blue sky niederblitzt,
then stand on the nachbarjungs zaun
sehn and the Minni is quite brown
As anyone lightly conversant in German and English can tell, Google's translation skills are mostly distinguished by a great potential for improvement.
Is Babelfish any better? Here's its result:
If the Minni
in the bikini
sits in the sun
and the azure sky down-flashes,
then stehn neighbour-young at the fence
and long: the Minni becomes completely brown
OK, so Babelfish knows a few more German words than Google, but still:
Alleluia, us human translators won't run out of work if this is the state of the art in automatic translation...
Emily Dickinson, Gedicht Nr. 479
Sie teilte hübsche Worte aus wie Klingen –
Wie sie doch glitzerten und funkelten –
Und jedes davon traf einen Nerv
Oder tändelte mit einem Knochen –
Nie hätte sie gedacht, sie könnte verletzen –
Das ist nicht Sache des Stahls –
Eine ordinäre Fratze im Fleisch –
Wie schlimm’s doch diese Kreaturen nehmen –
Der Schmerz ist menschlich, keine Höflichkeit –
Der Film auf dem Auge
Alter Brauch der Sterblichkeit –
Einfach das Schließen – hin zum Tode.
Emily Dickinson, poem 479
She dealt her pretty words like Blades —
How glittering they shone —
And every One unbared a Nerve
Or wantoned with a Bone —
She never deemed — she hurt —
That — is not Steel's Affair —
A vulgar grimace in the Flesh —
How ill the Creatures bear —
To Ache is human — not polite —
The Film upon the eye
Mortality's old Custom —
Just locking up — to Die.
